Purple Stripes
-Hardneck- 8-10 cloves per bulb.
The original garlic, as far as humankind's domestication is concerned. Overall, Purple Stripes are hotter than other types when raw, while mellowing out when cooked, with nuttiness and a bit of sweetness (though decidedly not as sweet as Rocamboles or Creoles). True to their Central Asian heritage, they retain the cold-hardiness needed for that region and do excellently in northern North America. Mid to late harvest, robust scapes.
