Hello all!
Just wanted to put out a fresh shout-out as I debut this site to the public at large. First off- I am always open to suggestions on how to make the site better, so feel free to email me at darenjcarroll (AT) gmail.com.
Secondly, in case I don’t get to making it clear on the homepage, this site is being geared up for sales of 2018-harvested garlic. Things look on track for a mid July harvest. We then have a 2 to 4 week curing process to let the garlic mature and make the great flavor we know and love. I hope to run a July pre-sale of a select amount of my projected yield, followed by the main season of sales starting from the end of August onwards. If you are determined to get your hands on a particular variety and want to place a deposit, I may make that option available.
Anyways, on with a garlic update! I’m walking the fields every day I get the chance, and everything’s looking great except my brand new variety Ajo Morado. There’s risk in every first year, between seed quality, regional adaption, et cetera, and it took out most of the Ajo Morado. The 83 other varieties look good though, so there’s the win for diversity!
Porcelains are already about 8 or 9 inches tall, Rocamboles, a little behind that, and the rest following. I’m very pleased with how all the new types look- I hope to post some pictures next week of the up-and-coming varieties.
